Imperial Topaz

Imperial Topaz

Last week we waved goodbye, a little sadly, to this stunning men's ring as it was collected by a satisfied customer. This was a wonderful commission for a gents band. The heavy 18-carat yellow gold ring combines an exquisite and impressively large Imperial topaz that had been brought back from Brazil with a sparkling round white diamond.

Imperial Topaz sketches

To create the sculputural ring we hand-carved the form in wax. Following initial sketches and design development meetings, we carved a model of the ring in wax to fit the gems perfectly. This wax model was then cast in 18-carat gold to create the final piece. Here you can see the ring in progress at the bench.

The sensational Brazilian stone is paired with a quarter-carat round white diamond. The 18ct yellow gold was given a satin finish, which brings out the colour of the metal and creates a soft matt backdrop for the sparkle of the stones.
